Jumps

Jumps is a fast-paced first person platformer where each level must be completed with a limited number of jumps. It was released in 2017 on Steam to Very Positive reviews.

I did not create Jumps, but after meeting with the developer Timothy Vincent at GCAP2019, as well as a representative from Nintendo, I jumped on board in order to port the title to the Nintendo Switch.

Contribution

Traversed and owned an unmaintained codebase
Created various utility classes to abstract the complex Nintendo SDK classes.
Developed an input system to read inputs from JoyCons, creating Unity-like methods such as ButtonDown, ButtonUp and Button.
Wrote systems to check and handle cases where the console is in Docked, Handheld and Controller modes.
Optimised legacy systems to run better on the Nintendo Switch
Re-wrote shaders and systems to cooperate with the Nintendo Switch's graphics requirements.
Implemented system to save data to the Switch hardware
